Post: Laboratory Assistant/Assistant Chemist (full-time position) - March 2008
ERT (Scotland) Ltd is an independent marine environmental consultancy that provides survey and monitoring services supported by our in‑house benthic and UKAS accredited chemistry laboratory.
As a Laboratory Assistant/Assistant Chemist you will be required to work within a small team of chemists/assistant chemists to deliver a high quality analytical service to our clients. Responsibilities include carrying out several technical procedures while maintaining laboratory cleanliness and reagent stocks.
The ability to work in a tidy and organised manner to strict deadlines with minimum supervision is highly desirable and applicants are encouraged to demonstrate experience of this. A key function of working in a UKAS accredited laboratory is adhering strictly to company quality procedures and practices. Candidates with practical experience from working within another UKAS laboratory will have a distinct advantage.
A component part of the job will also be assisting in maintaining field sampling equipment and may lead to involvement in offshore studies which entail working away from the laboratory on a survey vessel for short-term periods. Applicants with family commitments are asked to consider this aspect of the role carefully.
Applicants for this position are expected to be qualified to a minimum of HND level but consideration will be given to applicants with no formal qualifications at Laboratory Assistant grade if they can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience to fulfill the role.
